Tinos offers some excellent beaches for swimming in the sea with crystal clear waters, golden sand, sunsets, and endless blue everywhere. There are several famous, easily accessible beaches and many other alternatives that can satisfy everyone’s taste, as you may see below.
Agios Fokas is one of the closest beaches to Chora, since it is accessible on foot. It is located southeast of Chora and includes many organized sections with sunbeds, umbrellas, and a beach bar. At the end of the beach, there is the ancient rock of Vriokastro overlooking both the island of Tinos and Delos.
The beach of Agios Romanos is located in the southwestern part of the island, about 12 kilometers away from Chora. It is one of the most popular beaches in Tinos. The sandy shore, along with the crystal clear waters and the trees that provide a natural shade, form an oasis for the summer days. This beach was named after the small chapel located on the left side of the bay.
Kolimbithra, 15 km away from Chora, is the most famous beach on the island. It actually consists of two beaches: Mikri Ammos, with crystal clear waters and golden sand, is always protected from the wind and the waves, while Megali Ammos is favored by surfers, as the waves create the ideal conditions for them to enjoy their favorite sport.
Agia Kyriaki and Agios Ioannis (Porto) are among the best and safest Tinos beaches for families with children, as the clear and shallow waters, are ideal for safe play. It is located in the southern part of the island, just 6 km away from Chora, and offers several dining options. Across the horizon, you can make out the islands of Mykonos and Delos.
Rohari beach, located in Panormos, and more specifically in the port of the Platia settlement, overlooks the northern part of the Aegean Sea. The clear azure waters and the golden sand are the perfect combinations for an enjoyable day on the beach. Rohari beach is also quite shady, thanks to the tamarisk trees and the beach bar umbrellas.
At Kalivia, you will come across crystal clear waters, glittering sand, shrubs, and tamarisk trees that create a verdant setting. There is also a beach bar. The naturally shaped bay is protected from the winds, making the beach ideal for every day.
Just below the mountainous village of Isternia, you will find Isternia Bay overlooking the island of Syros. It is a picturesque seaside settlement, featuring a beautiful and serene beach. After taking a swim, you can visit one of the nearby taverns and try local delicacies.
Apothikes beach is located nearby Kolimbithra beach. It is long and comfortable, with umbrellas and sunbeds for a complete relaxation experience. Although the winds can be quite strong in that area, the beach is worth a visit.
The wild beauty of Livada beach is exquisite. It is located in the northern part of the island of Tinos and is covered with pebbles. At the edge of the beach, there are sculpture-like rock formations. To access the beach, you need to drive on a dirt road for a few minutes, but Livada is sure to reward you.
Following the dirt road that starts from Panormos, you end up at Agia Thalassa beach. It is protected from the winds and very serene. It is rather popular with the locals, but also with those who want to enjoy swimming in isolation. The tamarisk trees on the coast provide natural shade.
In the northwestern part of Tinos, you will find Malli beach. It is serene and remote, a secret destination to many people. The unique azure waters will impress you at first sight, despite Malli being a rather small beach. On your way there, you will also come across the island’s quarries.
The beach of Apigania is ideal for those who seek isolation and want to spend a relaxing day on the beach away from the crowd. Apigania is well known for its amazing turquoise waters, but also for the difficulty in being accessed.
At Lychnaftia beach, the coast is entirely covered with pebbles. It is a very quiet beach, despite being located just 10 km away from Chora. There are tamarisk trees here as well, granting natural shade to those who seek it.
Pachia Ammos beach is 9 km away from Chora. It is basically a large sand hill, leading to a beautiful, exotic beach. The waters are absolutely magical, while the downhill sand dune leads right into the sea.
Tinos beaches are truly amazing and worth visiting.
